The Mandela Suite
Sharon va prêter main forte à son manager John Hughes en participant à une bande son qui accompagnera son documentaire dédié à Nelson Mandela. Voila l’article entier venant de Stylo Rouge (et en bonus, une nouvelle photo de Sharon <3) :
Stylorouge were in Dublin in Decenber to shoot recording sessions and interviews for the documentary that will accompany a new orchestral work by the Wild Ocean composer John Hughes. The Mandela Suite is a melange of Classical, African and Irish traditional musical influences, and was inspired by a quotation by Nelson Mandela himself, when speaking backstage at a one-off tribute concert in Trafalgar Square in his honour in April 2001. Composer John Hughes was granted an extraordinary follow-up meeting with the iconic statesman four years later in Johannesburg, where he kindly agreed to repeat his paean in praise of music for Hughes to record it. This was to be the catalyst for a musical journey that would take a further two and a half years to evolve, with the help of orchestrator Fiachra Trench, Producers Billy Farrell and Greg French, The Irish Film Orchestra and Sharon Corr (of the Corrs) among others. Rob O’Connor has directed the documentary which will be used to publicize the release of The Mandela Suite early in 2009. Director of Photography is Ciaran Tanham. An excerpt from the documentary will be added to our website after the Christmas break.

Corrs fans are going to have to wait a little bit longer for the band’s mooted reunion with Andrea lined up for a new London production of Brian Friel’s Dancing At Lughnasa.
Debuting at the Old Vic in February 2009, the play about five sisters living in 1930s rural Ireland will also star Niamh Cussack.
“I couldn’t be happier that we’ve attracted such a terrific cast,” enthuses Old Vic artistic director Kevin Spacey who’s also bringing Ethan Hawke over for a ‘reinterpretation’ of Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale.
Although relatively new to theatre, Corr’s screen credits include The Commitments, Evita and The Boys From County Clare, which has become a cult hit in the States.
Meanwhile, sister Sharon has a solo album ready to roll in spring 2009.
